2013 Billboard Music Awards - Show

After being seriously injured in a car accident a little over a year ago, Tracy Morgan is on his way back, and he’s ready to show the world that he hasn’t lost a step. Over the course of his career, Morgan has become one of the most well-known mainstream comics, and has entertained millions of people all over the world. Aside from his career as a stand up comedian, he’s also appeared in several successful films and TV shows, including First Sunday, 30 Rock, and Saturday Night Live. Now with a SNL hosting kid scheduled for October, fans are more than ready to see Morgan make his return. If there’s anyone who deserves to be given the spotlight, it’s Morgan. And hopefully, he brings back some of the characters that viewers know and love. Here are 10 characters we hope Tracy Morgan does in his SNL return.

Steve Harvey

These days, Keenan Thompson has been portraying Steve Harvey on the SNL skits, but once upon a time – back when Steve Harvey had hair – Tracy Morgan did a mean impersonation of the fellow funny guy. It actually might be kind of funny to watch Morgan and Thompson go head to head with their best impersonations and see who comes out on top.

Dominican Lou

During Tracy Morgan’s tenure on Saturday Night Live, his Dominican Lou character become popular on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment. Lou, who was the superintendent of an apartment building in the Bronx, quickly won over audiences with his hilarious attempts at delivering news and other random information. With the announcement of Morgan’s return to SNL, fans are already using social media to let the show know that they’d like to see Dominican Lou.

Uncle Jemima

If you’ve ever eaten breakfast food, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard of Aunt Jemima. However, as popular as she is, there’s not really anything particularly funny about her. Uncle Jemima, on the other hand, is a completely different story. Sure, he doesn’t have a name that you hear very often, but that’s because there was no such person until Tracy Morgan decided to portray the character in an SNL skit.  But unlike Aunt Jemima, Uncle J isn’t a huge fan of early morning meals. In fact, the only thing Uncle Jemima seems to be a fan of is drinking. – and he has absolutely no shame about it.

Bishop Don ‘Mack’ Donald

Over the years, pimp characters have become very popular in the comedy field. Often depicted as self-absorbed and over the top, the audience just can’t seem to get enough. Well, Tracy Morgan’s Bishop Don ‘Mack’ Donald, is definitely a pimp that has gone down in hilarious history. While his ‘Pimp Chat’ segments often bordered on offensive, it definitely became one of those things that people laughed at – even if they didn’t want to admit it.

Big Bernard

If there’s one thing that most people with children can relate to, it’s the fact that there’s a good chance that their children will eventually outgrow them. However, there aren’t too many parents who have to deal with a seven-foot son who still acts like a baby. In his hilarious ‘Big Bernard’ skit, Morgan plays the father to none other than former professional basketball star, Shaquille O’Neal. In the skit, Bernard struggles to maintain the delicate father son balance – while trying to balance Shaq on his knee.

Sherri Shepherd

Now that Sherri Shepherd has returned to The View, the timing couldn’t be better. When the skit originally aired, Shepherd, who is friends with Morgan, stated, “Tracy Morgan did a great job. It was funny.” Tracy Morgan’s impersonation of was spot on, and during his return to SNL it would be great if he mixed some of the old skit with new material.

Woodrow the Hollywood Homeless Man

Homelessness isn’t really a humorous subject, but somehow Tracy Morgan managed to make it funny with Woodrow the Hollywood homeless man. Despite the fact that Woodrow lived on the street, he still always managed to get famous singers and actresses to come talk to him. During their conversations, Woodrow would share his hopes and dreams about one day becoming a star himself. Somehow, Woodrow was able to get some of the hottest women in the game to fall in love with him, but unfortunately, things never quite worked out. If Woodrow returns this time, hopefully he’ll have better lucky with his love life.

Astronaut Jones

Astronaut Jones is probably one of Morgan’s most well-known characters. Even if you’re not into space or science, Astronaut Jones’ adventures will definitely keep you entertained. As a United States astronaut, Jones travels through the universe visiting strange and unknown planets. Fortunately for Jones; however, the ‘aliens’ that he meets look nothing like the ones most people have imagines.

Brian Fellows

Flamboyant Safari Planet host, Brian Fellows, is definitely one of Morgan’s funniest characters. Although Fellows is flamboyant and over the top, he doesn’t even seem to notice. However, his lack of knowledge on anything regarding nature makes his commentary especially funny, especially when he thinks that the animals are all out to get him.

Tracy Morgan

As if Tracy Morgan being himself weren’t enough, he also sometimes portrayed an outlandish caricature of himself on the show. During moments in between skits, this exaggerated version of Morgan would bother guests, often loud and obnoxious. Even the show’s producer, Lorne Michaels, was no match for Morgan.
