The Rookie fans can celebrate, as the ABC drama has been renewed the show for Season 7, according to TVLine.
As per the report, the police drama, starring Nathan Fillion (John Nolan) has seen steady numbers in the ratings since Season 6. In fact, the show has produced more than six million viewers in total on average, which is a 0.6 demo rating, and Live+7 playback has seen a slight decrease from Season 5.
The Rookie Continues To Go Strong, Despite Setback
As The Rookie was recently twitched to ABC’s Tuesday’s primetime schedule, acting as a bridge between Will Trent and the last season of The Good Doctor, this may be seen as a tough time spot for views.
Still, despite this, the series continues to go strong. TVLine reports that comparing the police drama to others within ABC’s lineup, the show is currently ranked at #3, behind 9-1-1 and Will Trent when it comes to viewers and 9-1-1 and Grey’s Anatomy in a demo, respectively.
The Rookie’s Season Finale Will Be “Big”
The show is currently on a break until Tuesday, April 30, and has four episodes left until the finale, thanks to a shortened season due to the writer’s strike.
Cast member, Eric Winter, who plays Tim Bradford recently told TVLine that the last show of the season is traditionally, “big”. He adds with a laugh that The Rookie “always” throws everything into the finale, stating, “There are a lot of reveals.”
Winter also notes that Tim and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) will get some “fun stuff together”, which will involve “another great action sequences”.
Last fans saw the couple they had quite the breakup. So, will the two get back together during the Season 6 finale? Eric goes on to say, “Everybody’s out for the team and supporting each other and it ends in a really nice way.
And as far as Tim and Lucy, it leaves a nice sort of, I wouldn’t say closure or a guarantee of anything, but it leaves it in a place where there’s stuff to talk about.”
