Half a year after announcing they were over, Brooks Laich and Julianne Hough are officially over! In the meantime, they really fought hard to save their marriage but they obviously couldn’t so, a few days ago, she ended up filing for divorce!

But even though the Dancing with the Stars champion has taken the legal steps towards making their breakup official, they are going to remain pretty friendly with each other.

Furthermore, one insider tells HollywoodLife that that the former hockey player is rather sad that their marriage didn’t work in the end, but is doing mostly Okay.

‘This has been an emotional rollercoaster for Brooks but he’s very strong and he’s doing good. He doesn’t have any regrets about trying things one more time with Julianne but of course he’s sad it just didn’t work. But he accepts that this what is meant to be, they are just at different places in their lives and he doesn’t fault her one bit for that. And they’re going to stay friends, that will never change,’ the source dished.

Julianne and Brooks, who got married in 2017, announced their separation in May via People magazine.

The statement read: ‘We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate.’

At the time, the two were already quarantining separately amid the pandemic.

Brooks was in Idaho, while Julianne remained at their L.A. property.

Four months after that statement, however, the stars tried to fix their broken marriage.

Julianne flew to Idaho to spent time with Brooks as neither one of them really wanted to let each other go at that point.

A previous insider shared with HollywoodLife that ‘Even when they were apart they were still talking all the time. They are both such great people and truly love each other, it is just a matter of figuring out if they can live together.’
