Does Simon Cowell Have Veneers?

May 2024 · 5 minute read

There are a few things that Simon Cowell is known for; wearing white or black shirts, being honestly blunt, and his twinkling smile. In fact, many males would seek out this smile by their cosmetic dentists. Does Simon Cowell have veneers?

Simon Cowell has admitted to getting some “bits and pieces” done. Many fans have noticed and commented over the years. Even Sharon Osbourne has gotten in on the mockery of his veneer.

Cowell seems to be happy with his choice of veneers, as he continues to get the unnaturally looking white ones each time he updates them. White veneers have been said to make someone look younger, so it’s possible that is what the 60-year-old is going for.

Hello everyone. I wanted to share something exciting my son Eric and I have been working on. I would like to introduce to you #WISHFITS. To begin with, we have announced a seven book deal with @hachettekids today. WISHFIT is a world where the most unusual animals exist. The WISHFITS are magical, unusual and have evolved in a weird and wonderful way, combining two different species to form hybrid animals with very distinct characteristics! Some of Eric’s favourite WISHFITS include the DAT (dog/cat) the COG (cat/dog), the SNOG (snail/dog – the enthusiasm of a dog at the speed of a snail), the PEEP (pig/sheep) the CHUG (cheetah/slug – the slowest cat in the world), the HIPPOROO (hippo/kangaroo), the CHIMPANPOO (chimpanzee/poodle), the POLARBAT (polarbear/bat), the CROCOPUSS (crocodile/cat), the SHIGER (sheep/tiger – the most nervous cat in the world), the SPIKEY (spider/donkey) and many, many more. To be able to write a series of books with my son Eric has been magical. This idea was inspired 3 years ago by a very special friend of ours who runs a Children’s Hospice charity. I told her one evening about some of the funny animals my son Eric and I would invent, starting with the Cog and the Dat. And how every evening the two of us would think of the most unlikely animal we would like to have as a pet. She loved this idea so much she encouraged me to turn this into a book series. I then met with an amazing company called @tongalteam who have a global community of creators. We loved the idea of thousands of creative people being part of the development of our idea. I am thrilled to be working with Hachette, an amazing publishing house. They shared our passion and enthusiasm from the moment we told them about WISHFITS. Two of the children’s charities I work closely with will benefit from profits of WISHFITS, @sschospices and @togetherforshortlives. Simon PS. My gut feeling is that some of these WISHFITS actually exist…somewhere!

History of Veneers

Veneers are thin covers that go over teeth, you can have a single veneer, an entire set of veneers, or somewhere in between. Some of them can be removed after a short time and others stay on for 7 – 10 years and then are replaced.

A California dentist is credited with creating the first veneers for people in Hollywood in the 1920s. The initial veneers were created for actors and actresses to wear during filming and they would remove them after filming the scenes.

From the 1930s and 1940s, dentists realized that ordinary people, and not just actors and actresses, were interested, and could benefit from the veneers. False teeth during this time looked fake and veneers were more natural-looking.

One issue with veneers during this time was their bonding. As they were initially created to be temporary they were never really made to be worn full time. In the 1950s, a dentist realized that slight etching and a mild acidic solution helped bond the veneers longer.

By 1982 two other dentists had created a way to permanently bond the veneers. This led to a drop in prices and a rise in interest. Nowadays veneers are very common and highly requested, the advancements in them have them some times hard to tell that they aren’t real teeth.

This is not the case with Simon Cowell’s though, but only because of his preference for color. Natural teeth are not as white as what he requests, and he’s aware of that, but he likes what he likes.

Uses for Veneers

There are various reasons why someone might wear veneers. Temporary veneers are still used in Hollywood to change a character’s smile for filming. Other uses are for cosmetic and medical reasons.

I hope everyone is enjoying #BGT this year. I want to congratulate the team on winning a BAFTA Award. What an incredible achievement. And thank you to the fans who always support us. pic.twitter.com/lyaoN19K3j

The main reasons people wear veneers today is to change the color or shape of their natural teeth, or to fix spacing issues along their jaws. Most often veneers are used for the front teeth, that are made prominent when someone smiles or opens their mouth.

Simon Cowell’s Style

To go along with his famous white smile are his two outfits of choice; a tight-fitting t-shirt in white or black to go along with a pair of jeans, or his dressier outfit of a half-buttoned up white shirt with black dress pants, sometimes accompanied by a jacket.

He is known so much for his wardrobe choices that when he decided to wear a red tight-fitting t-shirt, instead of black or white, it made headlines and fans were shocked and speechless.

Wrap Up

I believe, based on older photos of Simon Cowell, that he chose veneers to improve the coloring of his teeth. It doesn’t appear that he had any real problems with his natural teeth, but of course, they weren’t the blinding white they are now.

Whatever his reasons, as long as he’s happy with what he’s getting, then there should be no problems with it. Though I’m sure he’s rolling his eyes that other men are requesting the same look as him, while smiling on the inside and secretly loving it.
