Monica Potter Is Latest Actress To Accuse Harvey Weinstein Of Misconduct

June 2024 · 2 minute read

Monica Potter (Along Came a Spider, Parenthood) made recent accusations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. More than 100 women have come forward to accuse Weinstein of sexual assault and rape. Many women have also stated that if they refused his advances, he would sabotage their careers. Though Monica doesn’t suggest that Harvey Weinstein did anything sexually inappropriate, she says it wasn’t for lack of trying. Harvey Weinstein has denied all of the allegations against him and has denied Monica’s claims via a spokesperson.

The allegations against Harvey Weinstein surfaced when Monica was giving an interview to WKYC.

Will Ujek asked Monica if there was one role that she felt got away. No one was prepared for Monica’s answer or that she would join ranks with many other women who have shared similar stories.

Monica Potter appeared nervous as she answered the question and stated that she had never spoken publicly about the incident again.

Will Ujek asked Monica, “What role did you miss out on, that you look back on and go, ‘Man that was the one that got away?’ Was there one that you auditioned for or maybe you passed over and then you saw the show or the movie and went, ‘Aw, I should have done that. I could have done that?”

It appeared as if the question caught Monica off guard. She then proceeded to say that she was up for The Cider House Rules but lost the part because she fought off Harvey Weinstein’s advances.

“I didn’t do something, so therefore I missed out on it. I’m not saying the person who got it did, I’m just saying I didn’t.”

The role of Candy Kendall in The Cider House Rules ultimately went to Charlize Theron. Monica clarified that she was not accusing Charlize of behaving inappropriately to get the role.

Were you surprised to hear Monica Potter’s complaint and allegations against Harvey Weinstein? Her story is very similar to that of Ashley Judd’s, Mira Sorvino’s, and Rosanna Arquette’s. Mira Sorvino described living in fear of Harvey Weinstein for over 20 years.

Monica Potter said Weinstein made three advances towards her and also like the other women, some of the encounters involved him wearing a bathrobe.
