Paris Jacksons New Single Let Down Is Here And Its Beautiful Listen Now

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Paris Jackson’s new single “Let Down” is here and it’s beautiful. If you’re over the age over 20-years-old you may think you’ve been transported back to the 90s or even 80s ala Cowboy Junkies or Mazzy Star. Paris’ vocals are smooth and breathy and she delicately lingers over every syllable with silky precision. There is no question — Paris has arrived and we are blessed for it.

The daughter of Michael Jackson certainly had huge shoes to fill as she has been surrounded by music her entire life. One can only imagine how losing her father at a young age, coupled with the public nightmare of the allegations against him devastated her. And it’s that devastation that haunts her voice like painful echoes that never leave but have taken shape in her music.

Paris’ first single “Let Down” is a beautiful introduction to her audience who is more than Michael Jackson fans. Paris has achieved what many children of famous artists only dream of obtaining — a fan base of her own and on her own terms.

“Let Down” is not only a beautiful song that Paris has shared with the world, but the video is a work of art in itself.

One fan had this to say about Paris’ new song.

You sound like a refined and hurt soul but strong inside your heart. I am proud of you. You are your own–you have your father’s light. Thank you. Thank you. To this is beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🕊️

If you haven’t heard Cowboy Junkies cover Lou Reed’s song “Sweet Jane” you may give it a listen below. Cowboy Junkie’s covered “Sweet Jane” in 1988, and you can easily hear how Paris Jackson has the same, ethereal vibe as Margo Timmins.

Paris has spent years writing music, hitting the road, and playing wherever she could and her artistry shows her hard work.

What do you think? Should Paris Jackson cover “Sweet Jane”? Not that she needs to, mind you, as Paris writes her own, original music, but a cover now and then never hurt anyone.

Fast forward from the 80s to 1993 and you’ll run into Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You.” Again, Paris has the same breathy, out-of-this-world ethereal tones to her voice.

Paris Jackson’s star has descended with “Let Down” and she’s rising high!

Paris Jackson will have plenty of fans from her generation, but if you’re older and think Paris has nothing to offer you musically, think again. If you loved the older, alternative styles of Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star, you’ll find a home with Paris Jackson.

Paris kicked off the “Let Down” premiere toned down with a guitar, her voice, and a Q&A. You may see that below.
