Singer-songwriter, Ava Bryant, has returned with her modern pop anthem, ‘I Take it All Back’.

The 15-year-old artist worked with the youngest Jonas Brother, Frankie Jonas, to produce the track, which is set to be her biggest to date.

When explaining the recording process, Bryant stated:

“Working with Frankie [Jonas] was such a great experience. Working with someone fairly close to my age was a totally new experience, and it was so much fun. He was so easy to work with and knew exactly what I was envisioning for the song.”

Proving to be an old soul, her relatable lyrics make it comfortably easy for audiences to support her: 

“I understand why you’re so confused. I’m so hot and cold when it comes to you. It’s been a long time and I know it’s over, but I miss the weight of your head on my shoulder.”

The youngster began singing and performing at the age of 10 and soon after hitting her teens, she was writing innovative music and singing regularly at local venues.

She has since amassed over 30,000 loyal followers on Instagram.

Bryant’s career flourished in August 2017, when she was signed to Strega Entertainment – who are an independent musical artist and event management company.

Shortly after, Ava saw huge success with her single, ‘Always You’, which accumulated over 200,000 streams on Spotify.

Due to the growing popularity and people witnessing her talent, Ava got the chance to perform the National Anthem before the eyes of 45,000 people at Minute Made Park in 2018.

We caught up with Ava before the release of her latest track, ‘I Take it All Back’.

She talked all things music, working with a JoBro, and how to manage a music career with a teenage life.

Hey Ava! First of all, for those who don’t know about you yet, how would you describe yourself and your music?

I like to think of myself as a Julia Michaels/Maggie Rogers/Taylor Swift-esque singer-songwriter. I try to write songs that are relatable and can be interpreted in multiple ways. As a person, I’m very goofy yet grounded.

We can’t believe you’re only 15 and have a voice like that! How do you manage teenage life and a music career?

A lot of my teenage life is hanging out with my friends. Most of my friends are involved in fine arts, so my teen life and my music life overlap a lot. I love it though because I love what I do.

Tell us about your upcoming track ‘I Take It All Back’. 

My new song can be taken from many different perspectives but for me it is about a very complicated and very changeable relationship. I went through a time where I was so hung up on a really great guy I knew, and I couldn’t make up my mind when it came to an actual relationship with him. 

You worked with the youngest Jonas Brother, Frankie Jonas, on this track. What was it like working with him?

Working with Frankie was one of the best things I could’ve asked for. He is such a smart, creative guy. He had so many great ideas, and he really helped me see my vision realized. Not only is he a phenomenal producer, but he was so much fun to work with. He has a great sense of humour and made every second of the recording process so much fun.

When did you get into music?

I started writing when I was 10, but I really started working on my music after a John Mayer concert. Phillip Phillips was his opener. Both artists are incredible writers and musicians, and I stayed up all night playing guitar and writing after the concert. I’ve been hooked ever since. 

What was it like performing at Minute Maid Park last year?

Performing at Minute Maid Park was a dream come true. The feeling of being in front of that many people is indescribable. I had the time of my life.

You have such a beautiful voice. Who would you say you go to for inspiration?

I go to people like Julia Michaels and Sara Bareilles for inspiration. Sara Bareilles’s lyricism and Julia Michaels’s storytelling ability amaze me every time I listen to their music. I really hope I can provide the same level of relatability and passion in my songs. 

Can we expect an album/EP this year?

Right now, I’ve got a lot of songs in the works. Just singles, but I hope to be making an EP soon.

If you could skip 5 years, where do you see yourself?

In 5 years, I’ll be 20, and hopefully touring. I see myself with a record deal and a publishing deal.
