Multi-talented artist, Taylor Swift has earned numerous awards for her incredible singing and songwriting abilities.  In 2006, when Swift released her self-titled debut album, she was instantly became a commercial successful.  Although she was just 16 years old at the time, her music was hailed for its thoughtfulness and ability to maintain a sense of youthful maturity.  Chris Neal journalist for Country Weekly, said that Swift’s music demonstrated “an honesty, intelligence and idealism with which listeners of any age will be able to connect…the more thoughtful material suggests a talent poised to last well past high school.”  Apparently, Neal was on to something as Swift’s music career has certainly lasted longer than her high school career.

In 2008, Swift released her second album and showed the world that she refused to fall victim to the sophomore slump.  The album, Fearless, solidified Swift as a country music superstar and Swift stated: “To me, Fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, Fearless is having fears, Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. Fearless is falling madly in love again, even though you’ve been hurt before. Fearless is walking into your freshman year of high school at fifteen. Fearless is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again… even though every time you’ve tried before, you’ve lost. It’s Fearless to have faith that someday things will change.”  Fearless earned Swift the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making her the youngest person to ever win the award.

Now five albums deep, Swift has certainly proved to be fearless. She has of the music industry’s biggest artists and one of the few to successfully establish herself in two genres.  The now 24-year-old artist has also displayed tremendous growth in her work.  Swift’s ability to write catchy yet meaningful lyrics has helped her build a strong relationship with her fans. Many of Swift fans regard her as a role model and look to her to lead by example.  In September 2014, a young fan, a fellow singer who often makes covers of Swift’s songs, reached out to Swift via Instagram to share that she had been bullied during her first few weeks of high school.  Swift quickly responded, telling the girl not to worry. In part of Swift’s response she said, “It’s just what they do, and you’re a target because you live your life loudly and boldly. You’re bright and joyful and so many people are cynical. They won’t understand you and they won’t understand me. But the only way they win is if your tears turn to stone and make you bitter like them.” Swift’s genuine act of kindness proved that her lyrics weren’t the only things with the ability to move people.  However, Swift’s fan outreach didn’t stop there.

Before the release of her latest album, 1989, Swift made headlines for holding a “secret session” in an effort to better connect with her fans.  In the privacy of her own mansion, Swift played the entire album for her eager fans.  One of the people present at the private listening party said that she enjoyed Swift’s new album stating: “She’s describing my life right now…I’ve been a fan since I was 14.  She’s never disappointed me.” Clearly, Swift rarely disappoints anyone; 1989 sold more than one million copies during its first week. Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone Magazine, gave the album four out of five stars and described Swift’s project as “Deeply weird, feverishly emotional, wildly enthusiastic, 1989 sounds exactly like Taylor Swift, even when it sounds like nothing she’s ever tried before.”  The Daily Telegraph’s Neil McCormack, who also gave 1989 four out of five stars, said that the album was “slick; candyfloss cheerleading, full of American fizz.”

However, while many listeners have analyzed Swift’s lyrics, some even trying to connect the singer’s words to their own lives, there seems to be a piece of information that many have overlooked: Taylor Swift loves singing about feet.  In many of her songs, Swift takes a brief moment to mention her feet, which, oddly enough, are usually connected to her love life.  Here are Taylor Swift’s best lyrics about her feet.

5. “You lift my feet off the ground/You spin me around/You make me crazier, crazier/Feels like I’m falling and I am lost in your eyes/You make me crazier, crazier, crazier”

Many women dreamed of being lifted off of their feet and spun around in endless circles, and apparently Taylor Swift is no different. However, anyone who is brave enough to lift Swift up must understand that when the time comes, she will be the one doing the dropping.

4. “You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me/You have knocked me off my feet again got me feeling like I’m nothing.”

Thanks to gravity, falling is usually the effect of being knocked off one’s feet. In Swift’s song, “Mean,” she discusses the idea of falling in the metaphorical sense, and falling in love is certainly a topic that Swift is familiar with.

3. “I never miss a beat/I’m lighting up my feet/And that’s what they don’t see”

Who needs light up shoes when you can have light up feet?  In Swift’s latest single, “Shake it Off,” she brags about being the life of the party.  However, Swift certainly isn’t begging for a dance partner, she makes it clear that she’s perfectly fine dancing all by herself.

2. “We are too busy dancing/To get knocked off our feet/Baby, we’re the new romantics/The best people in life are free”

Again, Swift’s feet are part of the equation; and again, she’s too busy dancing to notice.

1. “You shouldn’t be begging for forgiveness at my feet/You should’ve said “No”, baby, and you might still have me”

This is probably one of the few times in history when a person hasn’t appreciated someone begging at his/her feet.  Swift argues that had her boyfriend not messed up in the first place, there would be no reason to beg, and as usual, Taylor Swift uses her lyrical prowess to prove the best points.
