Rachel McAdams went platinum blonde: cute or doesnt suit her?

May 2024 · 2 minute read

E! points out that Rachel McAdams, 37, went platinum blonde ahead of the Oscars. We’re used to seeing her in a more golden blonde color, which seems to suit her coloring better than this white blonde color. She’s a beautiful woman either way I just think her hair looks bizarre this color. Maybe I’m not used to it yet.

Rachel was at a dinner Wednesday night at the Chateau Marmot celebrating Spotlight director Tom McCarthy. I just saw Spotlight yesterday when it came out for rental and I agree with Kaiser that it was incredible. My mom and I saw it together, she went to Catholic school and raised me Catholic (up to a point), and it was a sobering look at the Church. I really hope it wins Best Picture, it’s currently the favorite to win and I hope that sticks.

In terms of her fashion, she’s in a cobalt blue David Koma sheath dress with cut out shoulders. There’s something very… athletic about this dress, I think it’s the scoop neck paired with the thick shoulder straps. I feel like should like it but it comes off as plain despite the goofy side ruffle. She looks lovely as usual though and I hope she brings it at the Oscars, as she has so far this awards season. Maybe her hair color change is in preparation for a dramatic look Sunday!

E! also points us to this interview Rachel did with Today late last year in which she discussed her preparation to play journalist Sacha Pfeiffer. She listened to Pfeiffer on the radio, met with her several times and asked her many questions. McAdams turned in a great performance and you could tell she knew her stuff. I was also so impressed with Mark Ruffalo. I know he’s not going to win Best Supporting Actor, Stallone is pretty much a shoe-in, but he so expertly got convincingly upset and frustrated without ever overacting. The entire ensemble was just terrific in this film.

Here’s how McAdams’s hair looked before, at the Oscars luncheon (this dress is Prada and I dislike it).

After:

Hello Liev Schreiber:

Sam Smith!

Bonus Mark Ruffalo, with director Tom McCarthy:

More Liev Schreiber. He looks a little toasted. I hope Naomi Watts goes to the Oscars with him.
