WWE star Bobby Lashley claims to have been approached about fighting Mike Tyson in bare-knuckle boxi

WWE star Bobby Lashley has revealed he has been approached about a possible bare-knuckle boxing match with legendary fighter Mike Tyson.

The former WWE champion is no stranger to combat sports and enjoyed a largely successful MMA career that saw him win 15 of his 17 professional bouts.

Lashley went 5-0 in Bellator, arguably the second biggest MMA promotion, before walking away from the sport in 2016 after submitting Josh Appelt.

The 46-year-old returned to his professional wrestling roots and has finally realised his potential in the past couple of years by becoming one of the biggest stars on the WWE roster.

In a recent interview with Fightful, Lashley revealed that he has been approached ‘by a bare-knuckle boxing company rep’ about a potential fight with Tyson at Madison Square Garden.

Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN has since confirmed that Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship [BKFC], who will hold a show in London on August 20, was the 'bare-knuckle boxing company' that Lashley referenced.

“Confirmed: The company that has approached Lashley is Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC),” Muehlhausen tweeted.

“Lashley has talked with them in the past as has Tyson, but money was a stumbling block then and isn't the case now. Tyson is back training in the gym with Rafael Cordeiro.”

Despite wanting to fight Tyson, Lashley insists he has nothing but respect for the boxing legend and expects to be up against it if they do ever square off.

“I’m a fighter. Am I out here saying, ‘Yeah, I could go whoop Mike Tyson?’ That’d be stupid for me to say, and that would be disrespectful for me to say, so I’m not saying that. I’m just saying that if I had an opportunity to fight Mike Tyson, I would take it 100 per cent,” he told Inside The Ropes.

“It would be a huge honour to fight Mike Tyson. Look at the upside; if I were to catch ‘Iron Mike’ with a punch to put him down, I’m the greatest person in the world. I’m in movies, I’m everywhere, I’m the biggest sports star in the entire world if that ever happened.”

After 15 years away from the sport, Tyson laced up the gloves for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, fighting to a draw against his fellow boxing legend before seemingly walking away from the sport for good.
